125 years of Winemaking Greatness...
"From one of the oldest wineries in the country, Wente's Charles Wetmore Cabernet is a fresh, medium bodied, food friendly choice for under $20. It has quality complex fruit with undertones of chocolate and spice. It finishes nicely with subtle tannins and lasting flavors. A great value from a great vintage in California cabernets." Mike, LCW
Winemaker: Karl Wente
Our 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas and flavors of black cherry, chocolate and hints of brown sugar and spice. With balanced acidity and round mouthfeel, this wine delivers a smooth, long-lasting finish.
All three components were fermented in upright stainless steel fermenters.
Aged for 20 months in French, American, Eastern European, and neutral oak.
79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Petit Verdot, 6% Petite Sirah
100% Livermore Valley, San Francisco Bay
Our Heritage Block wines are grown in specific vineyard blocks named for the pioneers who relate to the history of Wente Vineyards’ winemaking tradition and premier Estate vineyards.
One of the Livermore Valley’s most prominent pioneers, Charles Wetmore is honored with our finest expression of the noble Cabernet Sauvignon. The descendants of vines Wetmore brought from France in the 19th century thrive today in the gravelly loam soils of our estate vineyards between the Arroyo del Valle and the Arroyo Mocho, streams flowing from the southern hills of the Livermore Valley. From their origins in Margaux in the 1880’s to the present, only the best of these Cabernet Sauvignon vines have been selected for each new generation planted. And they are prized for making wines with intensity, depth of flavor, and rich, lush body.
Founded more than 125 years ago, Wente Vineyards is the country’s oldest, continuously operated family-owned winery. Today, the winery maintains its leadership role in California winegrowing under ownership and management by the Fourth and Fifth Generations of the Wente family. Blending traditional and innovative winemaking practices, the winery draws from approximately 3,000 acres of sustainably farmed Estate vineyards to create an outstanding portfolio of fine wines. Located just east of San Francisco in the historic Livermore Valley, Wente Vineyards is recognized as one of California’s premier wine country destinations, featuring wine tasting, fine dining and championship golf.
